Timeshare Points Clubs explained  A recently developed and popular form of timeshare ownership and usage in South Africa is the purchase of points in a club. There are any number of such clubs. Rules differ somewhat, one from the other, but all operate within the same theme. We have access to stock and have sold to many satisfied buyers who were either members looking to top up portfolios, or new members wishing to join.
Essentially, with this form of timesharing, the member buys a number of annually allocated points, which can be used to exchange for holiday accommodation. These, if not immediately used, can be accumulated for a set number of years before they expire. This allows the member to book a luxury or longer holiday that will require more points than one year's allocation. In the resale market, prices are far less than the prices at which new points are sold.
The points system may well prove to be your right option. There is no doubt that the concept of points usage has one major benefit, and that is, it's provision for "flexibility" from one year to the next. Retired people often opt for this type of timeshare as it allows them many short stays, in a low demand time, which take fewer points. Certain points clubs do not charge reservation or exchange fees, which is also a saving for the retired folk.
These clubs are just that - "Clubs" - with membership rules. An annual membership fee is payable, as is an annual levy for the maintenance and management of the Club's timeshare portfolio.
